WE BELIEVE IN SPORT AS A TOOL FOR EDUCATION, DEVELOPMENT, AND INTEGRATION
Ethiopia faces a series of large-scale humanitarian and socioeconomic challenges that disproportionately affect the most vulnerable populations: children, women, and the elderly.
Of the population lives below the national poverty line.
Children are outside the school system.
Of the population lives in rural areas with subsistence farming.
Structural poverty is exacerbated by phenomena such as chronic food insecurity and the effects of climate change. Recent armed conflicts have led to the destruction of educational and health infrastructure, large flows of displaced people, and human rights violations.
Our projects are organized into two main areas: international development cooperation and education for global citizenship. Both lines reinforce each other, generating a local and international impact.
ACCEDE was founded in 2010 as an initiative by a group of individuals linked to the Gavà Basketball Club, who were moved by the extreme poverty experienced by many children in Ethiopia.
Direct knowledge of this reality drove the establishment of the organization as a development NGO, with the goal of working in the fields of Development Cooperation, Awareness, and Education for Global Citizenship.
