FEATURED PROJECT: MOVE FOR THEM (HER)

In response to the alarming increase in gender-based violence in rural areas of Ethiopia, especially in regions like Gurage, Tigray, and Amhara, the “Move for Them” project was born. This ACCeDE initiative aims to provide protection, comprehensive care, and real recovery opportunities to girls and women who are victims of physical, sexual, and emotional violence.

Main Development Components:

  • Comprehensive care center: A safe space where girls receive medical, psychosocial, therapeutic, and educational attention.
  • Safe residence program: A temporary home for minors between 6 and 16 years old who cannot return to their homes for risk reasons.
  • Training and self-employment: Professional training and entrepreneurship support to foster economic independence.
  • Sport and community integration: Incorporation into sports and education-for-development projects.
  • Legal and social protection: Legal advice and support for victims in legal processes.

Expected Impact:

  • To support more than 100 girls per year in rehabilitation and empowerment processes.
  • To reduce cases of recidivism or exposure to new situations of violence by at least 70%.
  • To integrate participants into the educational system and community sports activities.

This project represents ACCeDE’s deepest commitment to equality, justice, and dignity. Because they deserve to live without fear.
