Our mission is to contribute to social transformation through projects that guarantee access to education, health, gender equality, and sport as a universal right.
Our vision is a more just and equitable world, where every child has the opportunity to learn, play, develop, and live in peace, regardless of their place of birth.
Our values: social justice, solidarity, transparency, participation, equity, and cooperation.
Our projects directly benefit thousands of people in Ethiopia:
Participants in sports and educational programs
We guarantee gender equality in all projects
Trained and qualified with a social focus
Families of the participating children who improve their educational opportunities
Educational communities and schools that strengthen social cohesion
Local administrations that consolidate sustainable development models
Sports federations that strengthen their institutional structures
Our work contributes to breaking cycles of poverty, reducing gender inequalities, preventing school dropout, and building more resilient and cohesive communities.
ACCeDE is a Non-Governmental Organization for Development (NGOD) born in Gavà (Barcelona) in 2010 from a group of people linked to the Gavà Basketball Club, sensitized by the extreme poverty situation experienced by many children in Ethiopia. That reality was the trigger to establish itself as an organization committed to international cooperation, the defense of children’s rights, and gender equality.
Since then, we have implemented projects in Ethiopia, Brazil, and collaborated in Gambia, using sport, education, and health as tools to offer real opportunities for integral development. In parallel, we develop awareness and education programs for global citizenship in schools, high schools, and entities in the Catalan territory.
We currently have offices in Catalonia (Gavà, Hospitalet de Llobregat, Santa Coloma, Olesa de Montserrat) and in Aragon (Zaragoza). We work with a solid network of partners, volunteers, and collaborating entities both in Spain and in other countries.
As a coach, I have experienced the strength of sport as a vehicle for self-improvement, values, and growth. But there is something even more powerful than winning a game: giving a child the opportunity to dream and build their future through sport.
That is why today it is an honor for me to serve as the Honorary President of ACCEDE, an organization born in Gavà with roots in local basketball, which has grown to become an entity committed to education, equality, and social development through sport in countries like Ethiopia and Brazil.
At ACCEDE, we firmly and decisively believe that sport is much more than a physical discipline. It is a tool for transformation. It is education, it is self-esteem, it is community. It is a way for children in vulnerable contexts to access opportunities that allow them to change their reality.
Today I want to invite you to join this project. As a coach, I know that no game is won alone, and that the strength of the team changes everything. At ACCEDE, we need allies who believe, like us, in the power of sport to sow the future.
Collaborate with us. Share. Support. Let more people know about this purpose. Because when sport becomes a bridge, the transformation is unstoppable.
With commitment and admiration,
Xavi Pascual Vives
